Frequently Asked Questions

Is my financial data safe?

Absolutely! All data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. Your information never leaves your device or gets sent to any server. For extra security, you can use your browser's private/incognito mode.

Can I use this tool on multiple devices?

Since data is stored locally, it won't sync across devices automatically. However, you can:

  • Export your data from one device
  • Import it on another device using the "Import Data" feature
  • This creates a manual sync mechanism between devices
What happens if I clear my browser data?

Clearing browser cache/cookies will delete your transaction data. Always export your data regularly as backup. The tool shows storage usage in the footer to remind you. We recommend exporting monthly or after significant updates.

Can I add custom categories?

Currently, the tool uses predefined categories for both income and expenses. These cover most common financial transactions. For advanced customization, you would need to modify the code directly in the JavaScript section.

Does it work offline?

Yes! Once loaded in your browser, the tool works completely offline. You can add transactions, view reports, and analyze data without an internet connection. Only the initial load requires internet for fonts and libraries.

How many transactions can it handle?

The tool can handle thousands of transactions. Performance depends on your browser's localStorage capacity (typically 5-10MB). The footer shows current storage usage so you can monitor your data size.

Can I print my financial reports?

Yes! Use the "Export as PDF" feature to create printable reports. You can also print directly from the browser using Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac). The PDF export creates a professional-looking report with all your financial data.

Is there a mobile app version?

While there's no dedicated mobile app, the tool is fully responsive and works excellently on mobile browsers. You can save it to your home screen for app-like access: On iOS, use "Add to Home Screen"; on Android, use "Add to Home screen" in browser menu.

What if I want to reset everything?

Use the "Clear All" button in the Transactions tab. This removes all transaction data but keeps your currency preference and settings. Always export your data first as a backup!

Can I modify the tool for my specific needs?

Yes! Since it's open HTML/CSS/JavaScript, you can modify the code to add features, change categories, or adjust the design. Basic web development knowledge is helpful. The code is well-structured and commented for easier customization.
